You may want to buy living books from our bookseller, Books of Yesterday. Our marketplace will have books from Riverbend Press and LER swag items. Some speakers bring their books to sell. There will be fresh roasted coffee and cold brew coffee drinks from the official LER roasters, Red Letter Roasters. If you need extra meals because you are staying over Saturday night, there is a fee. And finally, if you wish to attend the pre-retreat session, there is a cost.

The optional pre-retreat session with Nancy Kelly and Art Middlekauff goes from 1:30-4:30. It is our Charlotte Mason Foundations course (A Paradigm Shift and The Twenty Principles). These two lessons and a Q&A time is included in this special session for CM beginners and veterans. There is a small fee ($30.00) and you must be registered to attend.

Unfortunately, no. The lodging, buildings, meetings, meals, activities, crafts, and outdoor events are for registered attendees only and nursing babies. The LER team is not equipped to handle additional non-registered family members and we ask that you seek other arrangements at home or off-site so that this special weekend can continue to be a place of refreshment and relaxation for parents and their registered teens.
-
We love teens! But please note that we do not offer a teen track at the LER, even though there are always a few teen-led activities. Parents are responsible to supervise their teens at all times and teens are encouraged to attend sessions. The primary mission of the LER is to support, encourage, and inspire CM homeschool dads and moms and teens can certainly be a part of that!
-
That would be sad because we would miss you! But if you need to cancel, there is a $40 non-refundable charge per family for cancellations before June 15th. No refunds after June 15th.
-
You are welcome to arrive early and stay Wednesday night before the retreat but no meals are provided until Thursday evening. You may also stay Saturday night and purchase extra meals for Saturday evening and Sunday morning. You can sign up for these extra days on the registration form.

Koronis Ministries will accommodate guests who require gluten-free meals. If you have other dietary needs that would necessitate bringing your own food, there are refrigerators in the lodging spaces available for guests to use.
-
We don’t offer scholarships but occasionally give some financial aid. If you would like to donate to the LER Financial Aid fund, there is an opportunity to do so on the registration form. (The LER is now a 501c3 Nonprofit.)
-
Most of the LER details, including the schedule and book discussion selection, will be available by March 1st on the website.
-
Yes! Please note this on your registration form and we will gratefully consider your offering.
-
While we don’t think this will give you the optimal, immersive experience that the LER is known for, we will consider making this exception. There is a flat rate of 125.00 per day whether that be Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.

If you are making flight arrangements, Minneapolis is the closest airport; Rochester, MN, Duluth, MN and Sioux Falls, SD are some other options. From the airport you will need to rent a car or make arrangements to carpool with others who are attending. We are grateful for LER friends in the Twin Cities area who are willing to offer carpooling to and from the retreat. However, keep the following in mind:
arrive at MSP airport before or no later than 10 am on Thursday; a Wednesday night stay at a hotel or with a host family may be necessary
schedule a Sunday return flight to allow for adequate travel time back to the Twin Cities

No, we don’t sell them. But following the retreat you can find many of the talks and resources on the RESOURCES page. We are now partnering with Charlotte Mason Poetry (https://charlottemasonpoetry.org/the-living-education-retreat/) to make many of the sessions and shared resources available for free!
